Guide to Using RSS for the Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso Portal
How to Dynamically Insert Links to Our News on Your Website

What is the RSS system?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, or alternatively Rich Site Summary, or RDF Site Summary. As a language, RSS is an application of XML.

The usefulness of RSS is significant, both for those publishing content on a website and for those who want to stay constantly updated on changes to that content.

Let’s suppose you’re interested in the news and updates from many websites. Instead of checking each one daily—or even multiple times a day—to see if there’s anything new, RSS allows you to monitor them automatically by simply telling the designated program which sources (feeds) to keep track of.

For each area of our portal, you can use the RSS-based newsfeed service.

Below you’ll find the selection of the main feeds from our portal:

RSS Latest News

To get the RSS feed for news related to a specific geographical area, simply add “/feed” to the URL of the news page for that area.

For example, starting from the web address for news about Abkhazia:

https://www.balcanicaucaso.org/en/area/abkhazia-en/

the corresponding RSS feed has the web address:

https://www.balcanicaucaso.org/en/area/abkhazia-en/feed
